Not only buy some from Apple, but learn some too.

Steve Jobs on Death

The sudden death of Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs swept across the globe, as many mourned the loss of a great visionary so passionately associated with innovation. I felt it would be apt to share some ways that people around the world (including myself) coped with his loss and showed their appreciation for the father of Apple.

1. Exploring Steve's Principles To Success
The Steve Jobs Way - Biography

As a follower of the Cult of Mac, picking up "The Steve Jobs Way" - a biography by his close colleague, Jay Elliot, seemed to answer my questions on what one can learn from the 'Boy Genius' himself. A principle that Jobs encouraged was to 'Do What You Love'.

"Passion are those ideas that don't leave you alone. They are the hopes, dreams and possibilities that consume your thoughts." (via Innovate Like Steve Jobs)

Following his list of leadership principles, Jobs used his passion to bring ingenious ideas that moved our society forward. The biography serves as a way for Apple fans to remember how Jobs forever changed how we work, play and communicate with technology.

2. Share Your Thoughts On Steve
Apple updated their Steve Jobs page to a tribute page titled 'Remembering Steve' as people around the world are given an outlet to share their emotions, thoughts and memories about the legend himself. Below are a few messages left on the page.

3. Set Steve In Stone

As a form of gratitude, the founder of Graphisoft, a Hungarian software company, commissioned a bronze statue of Steve Jobs in Budapest as Jobs had helped the company out since 1984 with providing resources and networks. It makes me wonder if this act of appreciation will trigger a chain reaction amongst the numerous organizations and fellow visionaries that Jobs supported. Perhaps, Apple fans will even soon be able to look forward to a wax statue of Jobs at Madame Tussauds'.

3. A Shrine for Steve
Within a short time since Jobs' passing, impromptu shrines popped up across Apple stores in America, and even in Asian countries. The tributes revolve around appreciation of Jobs’ legacy or grief over his loss.

At the Meatpacking District in Manhattan, the window of an Apple store is covered with dedications to Jobs in the form of Post-it notes, flowers and semi-eaten apples. It has been long since Jobs death yet the mini tribute is still up and strong.

Soon enough, another shrine for the Jobs was set up in a flagship Apple store on 5th Avenue in New York. I found it admirable that various Apple fans, ranging from consultants to graphic designers, braved the cold and paid their respects by placing items from Apple gadgets to handwritten notes.

The shrines caught up quickly in countries such as China, Japan, Hong Kong and even Korea. Jobs' work has touched lives globally as more countries began to build shrines commemorating the legacy he left behind.
